Does anyone else start over thinking around New Years? I dont know what it is about this time of year. It isnt like anything changes besides numbers on a calendar, but yet I find myself thinking about the past year and hoping for bigger and better new things for the year to come. I should be able to come up with resolutions and should want to change through out the entire year and not just in January.
I start doubting everything and wondering what my thoughts will be like on this date next year. Hopefully I will have a new position in my career, a good amount of money in my savings account for a house, a few trips under my belt and more lined up, plans for a puppy, more friends in Austin, a black and white thought on my relationship, and a direction of where I think my life is headed. Are those things to hard to ask?
Until next year!
I live in an amazing city with unique people. I feel boring so I will focus on sharing the stories of others :)

An 'ode to Roy Boy
Well everybody Roy Boy (my dad as most of you know) is the big 60 today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLD MAN. So in honor of my dads big day I will share a few fond and not so fond memories of my dad.
* So my dad was supposed to go out with his buddies for a few drinks on Friday night. I called him the next day to ask how his night with the boys was. In a very serious tone he said he didnt make it out because he had a near death experience. I thought he got attacked or mugged or was in a wreck. My dad said well I had a near death experience but I am embarrassed to tell you. Hence the story: My dad was in the mall on Friday on his lunch break and was in a hurry to grab a present and get out. He was walking thru the main corridor and started getting harassed by a young women who was handing out samples. She wouldn't leave him alone so he finally grabbed a sample and put it in his mouth. Well low and behold my dad shoved a sample of toxic soap in his mouth. he immediately spit it out, but the soap was so toxic that my dad threw up four times in the mall hallway before even making it to the bathroom. My dad made it to the bathroom, scared everyone in there and continued throwing up. The security guard had to come check on him. My dad wanted to give the young woman a piece of his mind so the security guard followed my dad to the kiosk to make sure that everything was ok. hahaha. oh dad. Im glad you made it out alive for your birthday
*When I was in 6th grade my dad got sucker punched in the nose by a crazy bag lady. She messed up his face pretty bad.
* My dad had really bad road rage when I was younger and there were a couple of times that was so embarrassed that I curled up in a ball and hid on the backseat floor.
* My dad went to every local swim meet, track meet and cross country meet that I had growing up
* My dad and I went to UT womens volleyball games and other various sporting events religiously for a couple of years
* When I was in second grade my dad had shaved his mustache without me knowing and I screamed when I walked into my parents room. I thought he was an intruder.
* I love the goofy way my dad walks especially when he is in a hurry or in a very serious mood. He sways and his head leans to the side.
* My dad owned his own cheesecake business (he made cheesecakes this year for Christmas!!), his own jewelry company and had a Tshirt company at one point as well. Man of all trades!
* I lived with my dad for a year in Arkansas after I graduated and that was.... interesting. hahahaha
* I love my daddy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Randoms
Howdy Everyone!
It is friggen cold here!! It was 81 degrees at lunch yesterday and is now 36... brrrrr. The Austinites cant handle the sudden drop in temp!
Since I havent written recently and a lot has happened I will just post random bullets below. I loved Laurie's bullets on why she loves the holidays/December so I thought I would piggy back off of that!
1) For those Arkansas peeps I get to have coffee with Kristina Watkins and Jenny Petite tonight! They now live in Austin and we have been trying to get together for a while! I will tell them that some of you say hello.
2) I love the Zilker tree and the trail of lights and I am looking forward to going next week
3) I have a one on one with my new boss today and that should be interesting and fun at the same time. He wont know what hit em.
4) I have a lot of social activities coming up and that is hard for my antisocial nature. ha. I am excited about girls movie night this Friday and Friendsmas and a department party this Saturday! Hopefully I will behave myself and wont say anything inappropriate to my co-workers at the party :) But if I do at least I will have something exciting to write about in my next blog. ha ha
5) My marathon training is going ok although it is difficult with all these damn holiday parties coming up. Plus I am old and my hamstrings and butt muscle, yes butt muscle, are having major issues and wont seem to get a long with the rest of my body! So who knows what will happen in the next month or so. I was suppossed to do 15 miles on Sunday and I did 3. hahaha. And I was traveling last week and had to run on a treadmill all week at the ass crack of dawn each morning. Good times!
6) I have been extra bad at calling people lately and I am sorry. I love you all and miss you more than you will ever know. Just remember that.
7) I want a french bulldog so bad it hurts but I will settle for 2 new tires and car maintenance for Christmas. ha ha
8) I want to go somewhere fun for New Years. I am bored here in Austin but I am on a tight budget so that seems to be a challenge.
9) For a Christmas present to myself I am adopting a manatee in Florida :)
10) I almost got in a bad wreck 2 days ago and I heard the car horn and closed my eyes and swerved away. Phew. Probably not the best thing to do
11) My cube neighbor at work and I have our own mini Christmas tree in our window and it makes me happy.
12) I am in need of a vacation and new career... any ideas?
13) Winner of the best holiday card goes to Rachel and Dale this year... .you guys rock
Alright I could probably ramble on but I will save it for later! Have a great day and talk to you guys soon!
Love ya.

Mandy J blog tagged me!
Howdy Everyone!
So Mandy J (yes I am still calling you Mandy J although you are a wonderful smitty now :)) blog tagged me and I am now sure what that means. It looks like I am supposed to post unknown or interesting facts about myself? I will try to come up with new ones, but some of you might know most of these lovely facts!
- I am an only child although the dogs sometimes got treated better than I did growing up :)
- I wore a smaller size swim suit in college than I did when I was 5-- yes I was the fat kid
- For show and tell in 2nd grade I brought a mold of the inside of my mouth and I even showed the class my retainer-- yeah I was cool
- I got 2nd place in the city for my science project on acid rain when I was in 6th grade
- I went with a group of friends to prom my senior year and I ended up going to the emergency room that night
- I was accident prone in middle school and managed to get hit by a truck. I also fainted at a choir rehearsal and broke my jaw in 2 places, busted open my ear drum and still have a wicked scar on my chin. My jaw was wired shut for weeks and my friend Virginia gave me a pack of gum as a get well present.. hahahha...
- My biggest regret so far is not going to my grandmas funeral my senior year of college
- My parents and I lived with my grandma from when I was 6 until 16.
- I still cant drive a standard car, but I did drive a tractor recently!
- My friend and I thought we were going to get killed by my roommate my freshman of college after I called her out on something via instant messenger. We ran to the swim coach to get help. ha haha
- The best camp I have ever been to was marine biology camp and no I am not kidding
- I was the lead in my school play in 5th grade
- I still follow my dads advice-- KISS- keep it simple stupid
Well I think that is good enough for now.... I tag Dan C and LZ

Its been a while
I haven't written in a while! I hope all of you are doing well and had a great Halloween. I must be getting old because I didn't do anything for Halloween. I went to dinner and watched a scary movie and that was about it. Going down town at Halloween around here is CRAZY. Everyone and their weird moms comes out to play. I think my dad told me enough horror stories about 6th street when I was younger that it has been permanently embedded in my brain! I actually listened to you dad. Arent you proud?
I have nothing new to report. I am only on week 3 of my marathon training and this time around is going to be a tough one. My body is just not what it use to be! Hopefully if I have injuries they will at least be early on and I can still recover and run. Unlike the past 2 times that I have trained where I am a month out and have to pull out because of my calve! I am doing more strength training and core work to hopefully help overall. I have been swimming to and that is good for the stretching and I go during lunch so I get some sun :)
Work is alright. Nothing special. wooo woooo.
I have a busy busy weekend! I am going to Wurst Fest (its a beer, sausage fest a ha ha) on Friday night, helping sell Sweet Leaf Tea for Big Brothers and Big Sisters on Sat morning, then the UT game Saturday afternoon and then I have to run 11 miles on Sunday morning. Im excited about my weekend but hopefully it will get here soon.

The wheels on the bus go...
I havent written in a while and still dont know what to write so I will just put random bits of info in a bullet format!
- I started training for the Austin marathon and we will see what happens. I think I am too old. Im going for Boston Qtime baby-- ok well maybe just finishing without getting another injury would be a realistic goal for this year. Hopefully Laurie will be able to join me and Robert is running it too, riiiiight?
- I am starting yoga again to "strengthen my core." Arent you proud Mandy?
- I am attending the Harvey Pinnick golf academy this weekend and the Texas game. Should be fun.
- I am going to SLC and Phoenix for work next week and then house sitting for a week
- I want to be wonder woman for Halloween
- A new target just opened by house and that is trouble
- Sara just got engaged, a work friend just got engaged and a friend from high school just got married this past weekend. wooo woooo
- I got a raise at work but that doesnt change how I feel about work because Im worth even more. So ha.
- I have been in a good mood this week for no reason and I love it but am waiting for the grumpy Corey to come back soon
- I applied to be the assistant athletic director at UT for fun and on the envelope I put my Arkansas Alumni address return label. hehehe.
- I eat 2 peppermint patties a day and it makes me happy.
- It is still 90 degrees in Austin and it is not fair.
- My boyfriend spent hours on Saturday painting his new living room and realized that it was the wrong color when it dried. ha ha.
- I want a french bulldog so bad it hurts. Christmas present anyone? You can buy me a house to go with the puppy to if you want. :)
- My dad asked me over the weekend when I was going to pop out the babies because he is ready for a grandboy. I told him he has a loooong time to wait. He then said that he probably wont live long. ha ha.
I better get back to work! More bullets to come later! I miss you all and love you!

Halloween
What should I be for Halloween? Victor and I could be Lucille and Ricardo. ha. Priscilla and I might be rainbow brite and strawberry shortcake. I could be wonder woman or a girl scout. The second question is what am I even doing on Halloween? Hmmmmm
