I am a step closer to my tatoo

Well, I did it. I signed my life away and forked over a lot of cash for a years worth of self inflicted torture. I signed up for Coure D Alene Iron Man on June 27 of next year. This is the same one that Sara did and she is part if my motivation. For those of you that know me well you know that the only way I would ever get a tatoo is if I completed an Iron Man.... I am a year closer and I am motivated to get my Iron Man symbol permanently placed somewhere on my body!

If you are asking if I have even done a half-- the answer is no. Have I even done an Olympic Distance Tri-- No. Do I know if I even enjoy doing triathlons-- not yet :) Am I a little crazy and excited at the same time-- yes. :) I took the leap and I did it. I may hate every minute of it but I am going to at least try. I have finally found some good training buddies here and have somewhat of a tri training routine down and with a little peer pressure and a lot of adrenaline I decided to close my eyes and turn in the digits on my credit card! I have been battling injuries for the last 5 months so I will have to be verrry smart about this whole thing but I think I will be ok.

I am really excited because I already have 2 people doing it with me, 1 indecisive and 2 others committed to being my cheering section! Any one else? You know you want to take the leap as well :)

Busy Bee

I have been really bad at blogging lately! But I have been enjoying reading everyone elses! Things have been hectic but fun lately. I am coaching with TEAM in Training and although I only officially coach one night a week, I seem to be doing something for TEAM at least 4-5 nights out of the 7. I am also training with the group because I am doing the race in Oct, fundraiser, meeting about fundraising and trying to do private swim lessons as well. I am trying to balance all that with workouts, socializing, sleeping and seeing my friends and boyfriend. I rarely see my roommate anymore and it makes me sad! PS that is a picture of my roomie and my BF at a "Guac party" this weekend!

Anway things are going well though. I signed up for about 5 triathlons this summer and have made some pretty good girlfriends that I can train with and travel to tri's with. Tonight a few of us our doing this thing called a splash and dash. The gym near my house has this huge open man made Quarry and every 3rd Tuesday of the month they host a mini practice race. It is a 750 open water swim and a 2 mile run. You would think it would be small but they have to cap it at 2oo people. The pro athletes seem to come out and use it as a sprint workout and it is a lot of fun. I did it for the first time last month and got 4th out of all the woman! Hopefully I will make it through the heat today and move up in my rankings! Those pro athletes have nothing on me.... hahahah

I miss all of you guys and I wish I could see everyone more. I am trying to schedule some trips this summer but right now my weekends are booked until mid August. goooood times. I cant wait to see Rachel and Dale in Sept! They are getting married and the bridesmaids are flying up in Sept for a lil bachelorette weekend. It should be really fun. Then I may go to Vancouver to visit Susie and Mandy and possibly Tyler and I am thinking that Susie and I will end up getting too excited about watching the ironman and will sign up on site! SUSIE GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR HALF!

Also for those of you that know Jenny Petite she is now in AUstin and is getting married near Dallas in August! I may go to her wedding and hang with our old trackie buddies!

This weekend is Victor and I's 2nd dating anniversary. I cant believe it has been 2 years but I also cant believe it has ONLY been 2 years. haha. I am not sure what we are gonna do yet but I am sure it will be low key and nice. The weekend after we are goingot his parents house (they live out by the lake) with a few friends and we are goign to hang out and relax. I am looking forward to that because then I am taking that whole next week off (forced vacationwoo woo) and my plan is to do nothing... although I have already scheduled a nice little massage and planned a day trip with a couple of friends to the Blue Bell factory!! Yessss my kind of vacation.

Work is still work and I have my good day and my bad days. I am busy enough right now to where I dont have time to look at other options even if I wanted to. FUN

I WISH THE BEST OF LUCK TO RACHEL who has an interview on Wed!!
Well I think I have talked enough for today!

Lots of love!

Hi there, it's me

So I have been majorly slacking on the blog thing! I even had a Friday training at work that focused on blogs and spoke about the future of blogs, both in the work place and in our personal lives. It was pretty cool, but made me realize that I am not a savvy blogger at all. Oh well! And Laurie I am with you in that I dont get Twitter. I really dont want people to know that I am going pee or being lame and watching a movie in my bed! TMI people TMI.

Lets see. There has been a lot going on so I guess I will just post random bullets as I usually do.

- congrats Peggy and Grant on baby Abby! She is so cute

- congrats Mandy J on your lil bebe and I love reading your blog and seeing your pics!

- I havent ran in weeks and it is really frustrating. Both my knees are shot from the marathon and I cant run more than 20 minutes without being in severe pain. It is awesome-- not. I have had this for a while now and I am getting to the point where I dont know if I will be able to run again-- I know I am being over dramatic but still! So I have resorted to the elliptical which is boring as crap. But I have branched out and have started going to free yoga, lifting weights, swimming and even walking! Maybe this will make me more well rounded in the exercise world... or just fat. haha

- I am a swim coach for a triathlon group called TEAM in Training and it has been a lot of fun so far but it is hard to get up at 5:15 again! It is only one time a week but still!

- I am also a assistant coach for another triathlon group and I am excited about that one too-- its all woman training for an all womens race and it should be interesting. We have our first track workout tomorrow and our first swim workout bright and early on Saturday!

- I am trying to decide what race to do next but at this point I cant really do anything so I guess I better focus on getting better!

- I am trying to plan a vacation for my mandatory time off here at work and I just cant seem to figure it out!

- I wish I had some really good girlfriends here in Austin although I do love the ladies I work with and we have a lot of fun. But I feel like the mother hen because I am older than most people around me at work. I miss all of you guys

- Work sucks... nothing new. Although I now consider myself a leader on my team and actually talk and interact in meetings. wooo

- I have started being better about saving my money. I need to do some major work on my car and save up for a house

- Victor and I saw Kanye West and his new girlfriend at dinner the other night! We were too chicken to ask for a pic though!

That is all!

LOVE YALL,
Corey

The New Year

Does anyone else start over thinking around New Years? I dont know what it is about this time of year. It isnt like anything changes besides numbers on a calendar, but yet I find myself thinking about the past year and hoping for bigger and better new things for the year to come. I should be able to come up with resolutions and should want to change through out the entire year and not just in January.

I start doubting everything and wondering what my thoughts will be like on this date next year. Hopefully I will have a new position in my career, a good amount of money in my savings account for a house, a few trips under my belt and more lined up, plans for a puppy, more friends in Austin, a black and white thought on my relationship, and a direction of where I think my life is headed. Are those things to hard to ask?

Until next year!

An 'ode to Roy Boy

Well everybody Roy Boy (my dad as most of you know) is the big 60 today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLD MAN. So in honor of my dads big day I will share a few fond and not so fond memories of my dad.

* So my dad was supposed to go out with his buddies for a few drinks on Friday night. I called him the next day to ask how his night with the boys was. In a very serious tone he said he didnt make it out because he had a near death experience. I thought he got attacked or mugged or was in a wreck. My dad said well I had a near death experience but I am embarrassed to tell you. Hence the story: My dad was in the mall on Friday on his lunch break and was in a hurry to grab a present and get out. He was walking thru the main corridor and started getting harassed by a young women who was handing out samples. She wouldn't leave him alone so he finally grabbed a sample and put it in his mouth. Well low and behold my dad shoved a sample of toxic soap in his mouth. he immediately spit it out, but the soap was so toxic that my dad threw up four times in the mall hallway before even making it to the bathroom. My dad made it to the bathroom, scared everyone in there and continued throwing up. The security guard had to come check on him. My dad wanted to give the young woman a piece of his mind so the security guard followed my dad to the kiosk to make sure that everything was ok. hahaha. oh dad. Im glad you made it out alive for your birthday

*When I was in 6th grade my dad got sucker punched in the nose by a crazy bag lady. She messed up his face pretty bad.

* My dad had really bad road rage when I was younger and there were a couple of times that was so embarrassed that I curled up in a ball and hid on the backseat floor.

* My dad went to every local swim meet, track meet and cross country meet that I had growing up

* My dad and I went to UT womens volleyball games and other various sporting events religiously for a couple of years

* When I was in second grade my dad had shaved his mustache without me knowing and I screamed when I walked into my parents room. I thought he was an intruder.

* I love the goofy way my dad walks especially when he is in a hurry or in a very serious mood. He sways and his head leans to the side.

* My dad owned his own cheesecake business (he made cheesecakes this year for Christmas!!), his own jewelry company and had a Tshirt company at one point as well. Man of all trades!

* I lived with my dad for a year in Arkansas after I graduated and that was.... interesting. hahahaha

* I love my daddy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Randoms

Howdy Everyone!

It is friggen cold here!! It was 81 degrees at lunch yesterday and is now 36... brrrrr. The Austinites cant handle the sudden drop in temp!

Since I havent written recently and a lot has happened I will just post random bullets below. I loved Laurie's bullets on why she loves the holidays/December so I thought I would piggy back off of that!

1) For those Arkansas peeps I get to have coffee with Kristina Watkins and Jenny Petite tonight! They now live in Austin and we have been trying to get together for a while! I will tell them that some of you say hello.

2) I love the Zilker tree and the trail of lights and I am looking forward to going next week

3) I have a one on one with my new boss today and that should be interesting and fun at the same time. He wont know what hit em.

4) I have a lot of social activities coming up and that is hard for my antisocial nature. ha. I am excited about girls movie night this Friday and Friendsmas and a department party this Saturday! Hopefully I will behave myself and wont say anything inappropriate to my co-workers at the party :) But if I do at least I will have something exciting to write about in my next blog. ha ha

5) My marathon training is going ok although it is difficult with all these damn holiday parties coming up. Plus I am old and my hamstrings and butt muscle, yes butt muscle, are having major issues and wont seem to get a long with the rest of my body! So who knows what will happen in the next month or so. I was suppossed to do 15 miles on Sunday and I did 3. hahaha. And I was traveling last week and had to run on a treadmill all week at the ass crack of dawn each morning. Good times!

6) I have been extra bad at calling people lately and I am sorry. I love you all and miss you more than you will ever know. Just remember that.

7) I want a french bulldog so bad it hurts but I will settle for 2 new tires and car maintenance for Christmas. ha ha

8) I want to go somewhere fun for New Years. I am bored here in Austin but I am on a tight budget so that seems to be a challenge.

9) For a Christmas present to myself I am adopting a manatee in Florida :)

10) I almost got in a bad wreck 2 days ago and I heard the car horn and closed my eyes and swerved away. Phew. Probably not the best thing to do

11) My cube neighbor at work and I have our own mini Christmas tree in our window and it makes me happy.

12) I am in need of a vacation and new career... any ideas?

13) Winner of the best holiday card goes to Rachel and Dale this year... .you guys rock

Alright I could probably ramble on but I will save it for later! Have a great day and talk to you guys soon!

Love ya.
